The Philadelphia Korean War Memorial at Penn's Landing was dedicated on June 22, 2002. It is located at Independence National Historical Park, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.[1] The memorial commemorates 610 Servicemen who died in combat during the Korean War from Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties. Veterans Day and Memorial Day services are often held at the Memorial site.[2]

Design

The memorial was designed by Jirair Youssefian of Vitetta Architects & Engineers in the early 1990s. After years of planning and fundraising, JJ White Inc. completed construction in 2002.[3][4] The memorial features four, central black granite pillars, listing Philadelphia area Korean War casualties from each year of the four-year conflict (1950-1953). The memorial also features:

In 2007, the bronze statue, titled The "Final Farewell", a sculpture by artist, Lorann Jacobs, was also added to the site.
