The Philippine Earth Data Resources Observation Center, abbreviated as PEDRO, is a satellite ground station to be built in Quezon City, Philippines. It is part of the Philippine Scientific Earth Observation Micro-satellite (Phil-Microsat) program by the Department of Science and Technology which includes the deployment of the Diwata-1 and Diwata-2 microsatellites.[1]
Set to be operational by the time Diwata-2 is in orbit in late 2017 or early 2018, the PEDRO station is set to serve the microsatellites under the Phil-Microsat program, as well as receive information from commercial satellites.[2]
The ground station was initially planned to be located inside the Subic Bay Freeport Zone in Subic, Zambales.[3] This plan was reportedly changed in March 2016, with the ground station to be built in Diliman, Quezon City instead. Construction is set to begin within the next few weeks from March 24, 2016.[4]
