The Presque Isle Lodge is a rustic hotel located at 8211 East Grand Lake Road in Presque Isle, Michigan. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008.[1]

History

In the 1910, construction began on what is now US-23, opening northern Michigan in general, and this area around Grand Lake specifically, to more tourism.[2] The Presque Isle Lodge was constructed in 1920 by Newell A. Eddy Jr. of Bay City.[3] It operated as a hotel until 1978 and reopened as a bed and breakfast in 1989.

Description

The Presque Isle Lodge is a 10,000 square foot building.[3] The Eddys had, for some time, been crafting rustic log furniture, and continued manufacturing at this site under the name "Habitant Shops, Inc."[3] The lodge contains a large collection of their work.[3]
