Pyaasa Sawan (English: The Thirsty Monsoon) is a 1981 Bollywood, drama film produced by Prasan Kapoor on Tirupati Pictures Enterprises banner, directed by Dasari Narayana Rao. Starring Reena Roy, Jeetendra, Moushmi Chatterji in the lead roles and music composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal. This is regarded as one of the classic hit of the lead actor Reena Roy. The film was highly successful as did their songs. The film is remake of Telugu Movie Yedanthasthula Meda (1980), starring Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Jaya Sudha, Sujatha in pivotal roles.

Plot

Chandrakanth is looking for a job. Prabhudas mistakenly thinks that Chandrakanth is the son of a wealthy man. Prabhudas wants Chandrakant to marry his daughter Shanti. By the time Prabhudas learns the truth, Chandrakant and Shanti have fallen in love. They marry but go through a lot of troubles. Chandrakant builds a small empire by hard labor. Shanti gives birth to their son, Ravi. Shanti passes away after one year. Chandrakant always regrets that he could not give much time to Shanti. Ravi grows up and the same story of Chandrakant-Shanti is about to repeat between Ravi and Manorama.
