Radio Woking is a UK community radio station, broadcasting on DAB across the borough of Woking in Surrey, and throughout the world online. The station is based at The Winston Churchill School, Woking, and broadcasts from a DAB Transmitter located there.

The station broadcasts a wide range of programmes featuring local guests, sports clubs and specialist music shows featuring genres from show tunes to reggae.[1]

Sports

Radio Woking regularly broadcasts Woking F.C. games with live commentary, and covers many local sports clubs including Knaphill F.C., Westfield F.C. and Chobham Rugby Football Club on their sports shows.[2]

Students

Students at the school are trained and get the opportunity to broadcast regularly every school day from 3-4pm.[3]

History

Radio Woking started as a Student Radio station called YayRadio at The Winston Churchill School, Woking in 2012, broadcasting worldwide on the internet and on the school campus. The station expanded it's broadcasting hours outside of school time on October 29, 2013, becoming a local community radio station with its present name to focus on the Woking community.

In 2015 BFBS won a local OFCOM trial for small scale DAB with Radio Woking and a local transmitter was installed at The Winston Churchill School, Woking enabling Radio Woking to broadcast across the Woking Borough.[4][5]
