Radoslav Kvapil

Radoslav Kvapil (born 15 March 1934 in Brno) is an internationally acclaimed Czech pianist. At the end of the 20th century, he devoted his concert programmes to works by Frédéric Chopin, particularly in France, in the Chopin International Piano Festival in Nohant. On 21st October 2016 Radoslav gave a recital of Beethoven, Chopin, Dvorak, Janacek and Martinu at St Mary's parish church in Hay-on-Wye. At the age of 82 he performed brilliantly and the audience was most impressed and appreciative. He came by invitation from an old friend of nearly 40 years who is trying to raise funds for a new boiler that can cope with the cold weather that means that the church's fine acoustic cannot be used in the colder months. He has recently recorded a C.D. for Alto of Chopin Complete Ballades and Impromptus, some of which he performed at the concert. We are very grateful to him for coming to our little town. John Funnell, Chair of St. Mary's Music Committee

He has also recorded Studies by Chopin (coprod. Amat/Jean-Pierre Thiollet, 1999).
