Rashid Khan

Rashid Khan (born 2 February 1980) is a Bangladeshi singer, songwriter, painter, poet and businessman. He is a son of a policeman (Inspector General) and a housewife, the middle child of three brothers. Rashid is famous for his Bengali light and easy songs, traditional yet contemporary, using a vast range of different instruments. Stepping out of the common themes and trends in Bengali music, Rashid’s lyrics and tunes make his listeners re-examine their time, feelings and dreams. However, his first public creative outlet was painting, starting when he was in class 8. He later channeled his creativity to the corporate world,^[1] setting up a creative solutions provider in 2005, named Creato.^[2]

Education

He is an alumnus of the Jhenaidah Cadet College and a member of the Jhenaidah Ex-Cadets Association.^[3] As a student, he was into athletics and football. This is where he started to paint and sharpened his music skills, although he had been exposed to music since early childhood. He later went on to Independent University, Bangladesh and earned an undergraduate degree in computer science. As a student, he performed a few times for the university crowd, but did not yet consider himself a professional. He later focused his creativity on the corporate world, setting up a creative solutions provider in 2005. He is now CEO of the company, which is called Creato.^[4]

Artwork

Rashid has showcased his artwork in a number of solo and group exhibitions, such as a solo art exhibition at Drik in 2000, Dhaka; a solo art exhibition at Shilpangan in 2002; an art exhibition in the Zainul Gallery of Fine Arts in 2014^[5] together with his son;^[6] a Group Exhibition at IUB in 2000; a Group exhibition at Drik in 2001; a Group exhibition in the National Museum in 2001; a Group exhibition at Drik in 2001 and a Group exhibition in the National Museum in 2003. He received the Best Artist Award for action in an inter-university Paintings Competition in 2003. He also received an Honorary Award from the Bangladesh Journalist Association.
