Rehan Yar Khan

Rehan Yar Khan (born 15 September 1971) is an Indian venture capitalist and founder and operator of Orios Venture Partners.,[1] a Mumbai-based venture fund for technology startups. Orios is the largest domestically raised venture capital fund in India.[2] Khan has been recognized as one of India's leading early-stage technology investors.[3]

Early life

Khan was born in India and attended St. Xaviers College in Mumbai where he completed his bachelor's in political science and economics. He has also completed the accounting foundation course from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales', University of London.[4]

Career

Before moving into venture capital investing, Khan was an active entrepreneur, heading the development of three companies: Fresh Floritech (1992–1998), VSG Services (1998–2004), and Flora2000 (2004-current).[5]

Khan began angel investing in 2008 with an investment in Druva[6] which provides data protection for computer networks.

Since then, Khan has led 19 startup investments including leading investments in OlaCabs,[7] Jigsee (acquired by VuClip), Sapience,[8] Ziffi, PrettySecrets, Zapstitch and other companies.[9]

Seven ventures have gone on to raise further funding from investors such as Sequoia Capital, Tiger Global and Nexus Ventures. 15 of his 19 portfolio companies have either given him the option of full or partial exits.[10]

Orios Venture Partners

Last year, Khan launched an early-stage fund, Orios Venture Partners, with a corpus of Rs 300 crore to back technology entrepreneurs building the next generation of multi-billion dollar companies from India[11]

Personal life

Khan is the founding member of the Indian Angel Network's Mumbai Chapter and a TiE Charter Member. He also served as a board member of Indian Angel Network.[12]
