Rusthof cemetery

The Rusthof cemetery (Dutch: begraafplaats Rusthof[lower-alpha 1]) is located in Oud-Leusden, Leusden municipality, Utrecht Province, Netherlands. It is the largest cemetery that services Amersfoort, which is 4 km south of. Therefore, it is often called Amersfoort General Cemetery or Amersfoort (Old Leusden) Cemetery or other variants. It is a partly civilian partly military cemetery. Buried there are the victims of World War II, including 238 soldiers and pilots killed in action from the British Commonwealth, Poland, Belgium and France, also World War II military victims from Yugoslavia, Greece, Hungary, Romania, Portugal, Czechoslovakia and Italy (World War I and II), as well as 865 soldiers from the Soviet Union.[1][2][3] A number of Soviet victims came from the nearby Kamp Amersfoort. The Soviet soldiers were eventually reburied in 1947/1948 from some other places in what is called "the Russian Honor Field" or "the Soviet Field of Glory".[3][4]
