Saari Raat
Saari Raat is an upcoming short drama film written and directed by Aparna Sen as part of the India-Pakistan Peace project called Zeal For Unity. It has Konkona Sen Sharma , Ritwik Chakraborty and Anjan Dutt as leads in the film. It has a total run time of 83 minutes.
Plot
On a stormy night, a stranded couple find themselves taking shelter in a dilapidated warehouse. But this seemingly haunted abode turns out, to the couple’s surprise, to be inhabited. Its sole inmate is an elderly gentleman who has the disconcerting habit of materializing suddenly out of dark crevices, often putting the couple in uncomfortable situations. Yet he makes for an unusually hospitable host, offering them a simple meal and makeshift beds so that they have a decent shelter if the rain gets too torrential for them to venture homeward. But their night with the host turns out to be one full of revelations. He draws out secrets from their lives that they had never known about themselves or about each other. The couple find themselves in the midst of an unforgettable night that changes their life forever.
Director
Aparna Sen has not only carved a niche in Bengali cinema but also directed critically acclaimed films like Mr. and Mrs. Iyer and 15 Park Avenue. Besides bagging three National Film Awards, she is also the recipient of India’s fourth highest civilian award, the Padma Shri.
