Sagiyama virus is an arthropod borne virus recovered from mosquitoes collected during July and August 1956 and 1957 near Tokyo, Japan.[1] Sagiyama virus is in a member of the genus Alphavirus in the family Togaviridae, possessing single positive strand RNA genome.[2]

Pathology

Sagiyama virus is harmless to humans, and causes moderate symptoms in horses.[3]
