Sally Victoria Benson (born 12 May 1984) is an Australian^[1] actress, model, host, entrepreneur, writer and businesswoman who lives and works in Macau, Hong Kong and Beijing. Fluent in Mandarin, she is known across China by her Chinese name^[2] Weiduoliya (维多利亚),^[3] she spends time both filming and producing TV and films across Asia as well modeling and hosting events. She is currently the CEO and Founder of Red Studio Macau,^[4] and has authored several articles for publications such as Macau's first online magazine, Live and Love Macau.^[5] a magazine she part owns.

Benson has appeared in many local magazines,^[6] local^[7] newspapers^[8] and Chinese television programs. She is also the president of the MAFAA (Macau Academy of Film Arts Association) an association which aims to support and promote local artists in Macau.

Early life

Born in Sydney, Australia, Sally moved to Macau in the early 1990s where she spent the bulk of her childhood. She moved back to Sydney in the year 2000 and completed her last 3 years of high school at St Catherine's School, Waverley. It was here Sally began her study in Theatre Performance. She simultaneously studied under Sandra Lee Paterson at On camera Studio and many courses at National Institute of Dramatic Art. After graduating in the power of acting from The Actors Centre Sydney, Sally moved to Beijing to start her career.

Career

2008-14

Sally Victoria Benson's acting career initiated after relocating to Beijing to learn Mandarin. She appeared in her first TVC for Yili Milk. After completing one year of Mandarin studies at Beijing Language and Culture University she started working full time on acting and modeling jobs while continuing her language studies. Benson was cast in over 30 TVC's, 15 TV serials, 2 feature documentaries and roles in short films and feature films for over the 6 years she was based in Beijing. She modeled for the famous Chen Man and appeared on the pages of magazines including Harper's Bazaar China and Lifestyle magazine. Two of Benson's most acclaimed roles to date are her supporting role in a romantic drama A Song For Autumn and A Murder Beside Yanhe River.

2014-present

Sally Victoria Benson moved back to Macau in 2014. She opened an entertainment based company Red Studio.^[9] After 2 years as creative director and CEO, Benson left the company to pursue a professional change. During that time she continued to act and film. Benson appeared in the music video for Concrete Lotus debut single and also starting producing her own work. She produced the short documentary The identity of the Macau Portuguese egg tart with Kenny Leong. Benson was selected to participate in three short film festivals in Macau and China in 2015. One of which she was nominated for best actress and the same short film, A Blank Page, took out the best director and best film. Benson also took to hosting of the closing ceremony of the Wen Zhou Short film competition and was on the judging panel for the Xiamen film festival in December 2015.

In April 2016 she simultaneously launched her new online lifestyle magazine Live and Love Macau^[10] while filming a supporting role on a small-scale feature Sea of Mirrors.
