Sambhaji Shahaji Bhosale

Sambhaji Raje was named "Shambuji Raje" at his birth after Lord Shiva. One of Lord Shiva's name is "Shambu".

Sambhaji Raje Bhosle was the elder son of Shahaji Bhosale and Jijabai. He was the elder brother of Shivaji Raje Bhosle Sambhaji belongs to sisodia rajput clan. His father Shahaji in his letter to adil shah mention and called himself a sisodia rajput. This incident was also mentioned by his poet Jayram Pindye in his book Radhav Vilas Champu. He was brother of great Maratha king Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Sambhaji was born in 1623 and was a great favorite of his father. At the time of Sambhaji's birth Shahaji was general in the court of Adil Shah. Sambhaji Raje was killed by Afzal Khan's treachery at the age of 33.

His brother, Shivaji Raje, killed Afzal Khan to avenge him.[2]
