Searchmetrics is a software company founded in Berlin, Germany, that sells a search engine optimization tool, Searchmetrics Suite.[1] It was founded in 2005 by Marcus Tober[2] to take a data driven approach based search and content optimization marketing. By 2011, the company has raised $11 million in three funding rounds from Iris capital, Neuhaus Partners and Holtzbrinck Digital.[3][4] The company is headquartered in Germany with offices in San Mateo, London, New York City, and Paris.[5]

History

In 2005, Searchmetrics was founded by Marcus Tober. The idea to start the company came to Tober when he was working for a price-comparison website and during his tenure at the company he realized the higher amount of time required to perform tasks like backlink analysis, crawling competitors, and content optimization, he began focusing on automation.[6] In 2007, the company received seed capital from Holtzbrinck Digital[3] and focused on developing a search engine optimization tool that can provide analysis, recommendations,[7] forecasting and reporting to the users. They developed a tool, Searchmetrics Suite, enables marketing departments to take a data driven approach to -based search and content optimization marketing to help them drive more traffic to their websites and better engage visitors firm that uses data to drive results.[8] The company got initial success with clients including Symantec, Siemens, eBay and others.[9][10] In January 2010, the company raised Series B round and later in 2011 raised Series C round to raise a total of $11 million funding. In 2014, Searchmetrics was named Best SEO Software by the US Search Awards, which were awarded as part of PubCon Las Vegas.[11][12]

Tools

Searchmetrics provides a suite of tools called Essentials Plus, which provides ranking data, backlink analysis, projected and historical traffic reports, keyword analysis, and social visibility metrics.[13] The company offers tools designed specifically for agency and enterprise customers.[14]
