Sekolah Tun Fatimah or better known as STF, is a premier all-girl boarding school(Sekolah Berasrama Penuh) located in Johor Bahru, Johor, Malaysia. The students in the school are nicknamed the name STFians.[1] In 2010,the school was awarded with the Sekolah Berprestasi Tinggi or High Performance School[2] title, a title awarded to the 20 schools in Malaysia that have met stringent criteria including academic achievement, strength of alumni, international recognition, network and linkages. The school is specialised in hockey, band as well as basketball [3] STF has been known for producing high-resistant yet poised young ladies throughout Malaysia.[4] The school is a member of Strategic Educational Alliance of Southeast Asia.

History

Sekolah Tun Fatimah is a Sekolah Berasrama Penuh [SBP], which is administered by the Ministry of Education, special for girls. The students are selected and managed by the Ministry of Education from around the country who achieved excellent results in the UPSR (Primary School Assessment Test) and PMR (Lower Secondary Assessment).

Sekolah Tun Fatimah, was founded in Durian Runtuh, Malacca in 1956 with the name Secondary School Malay Girls. The goal is to educate students, especially Malay girls from rural areas of the whole Malaya to become teachers by sending them directly to the Malacca Malay Women Teachers Training College (MWTC) after examination LCE / SRP.

In 1958, it was officially launched by YB Encik Khir bin Johari, the Minister of Education of Malaya at that time and given the name "Tun Fatimah School, named after a famous Malay Women Srikandi at the time of the Malacca sultanate.[5] Sekolah Tun Fatimah, has moved to current premises in August 1962. On 25 September 1965, STF was officially opened by HRH Sultanah Johor, Tunku Ungku Tun Aminah Ahmad.

Rivalry

STF have a long held rivalry with other two all-girls premier boarding school, Kolej Tunku Kurshiah and Sekolah Seri Puteri. However, the rivalry could be told as a love-hate relationship. The students rivals in many ways (debate, sports, studies, band etc.) but at other times, them can be the closest of friends. The love-hate relationship was obvious throughout generations for the three schools.

Students' Life

The uniform bodies that are present in the school is Marching Band and Wind Orchestra (STF Band), Malaysian Red Crescent Society (PBSM), National Police Cadet (Malaysia), Malaysian Fire Brigade Cadet, Persatuan Puteri Islam (PPI), Kadet Remaja Sekolah Malaysia(KRS), Persatuan Pandu Puteri Malaysia - Renjer (upper form) and Remaja (lower form).

There are three niche area in STF.They are hockey,basketball , band and petanque. The school band is "STF BAND", hockey team is "STRIDERS" while the school basketball team is "DYNAMITES"
