Sharda University is a university college and educational institution in Greater Noida, Delhi NCR, India. The university is approved by the University Grants Commission and offers courses at the undergraduate, post graduate and doctorate levels.

History

Sharda University is part of the Sharda Group of Institutions which was established in 1996. The group has four campuses in Agra, Mathura, and Greater Noida.

The Sharda University campus is located in Knowledge Park III, Greater Noida.

School of Engineering and Technology:

The School of Engineering and Technology provides education in Engineering and technology. It has 250 faculty members and 41 laboratories.

Labs

School of Engineering has 41 labs to do research and studies. School of medicine has 28 laboratories for practical exposure.

Incidents

May 2013 riot

A riot broke out on 6 May 2013 on the university premises between Afghani and Indian students. Police reported 1,000 protestors being present at the campus. The university vacated a hostel and postponed exams for one week. The police reported that an argument over car parking was the cause of the incident, although Afghani students alleged it was started after the eve teasing of an Afghani girl by Indian students.^[1]

March 2014

On 2 March 2014 Kashmiri students celebrated Pakistan's victory in a cricket match against India and were accused of using foul language about the Indian team, leading to a verbal confrontation with non-Kashmiri Indian students. Several days later posts on a social networking site reignited the issue, leading to a physical confrontation. The police attended and several students were expelled by the university.^[2]^[3]
