Shazli Tahir

Shazli Tahir (Pakistani pronunciation: [ˈshazlee tahir]; Urdu: شاذلي طاہر; born 27 December 1989 in Karachi) is a Pakistani international sailor currently playing for Aquatic Club and the Pakistan national team. He started sailing at the age of 10 and competed at 11 in Optimist Class Dinghy. Currently he is sailing a Laser 470 dinghy along with crew Sabahat Ullah Babur.

Early life

Shazli attended Bahria College and National University of Sciences and Technology in Karachi. He has made great achievements in sports since then. He is now serving in Pakistan Navy.

Other interests

He is quite talented plays Football, Sailing and Skiing and is also a good sketcher.[1]

Sailing

He had been playing nationally under NORE Sailing club. On 22 December 2003 he went to Mumbai, India to represent his country in IODA Asian Championships 2003.[2] Then he went to Sri Lanka and secured 2nd position overall in the South Asian Yachting Regatta while sailing a Laser 4.7.[3] He also secured second position in Chief of the Air Staff International Open sailing regatta held in Karachi PAF in the Laser 4.7.[4] He has sailed Optimists, Laser Radials, Laser 16s, Enterprise Class, and Laser 470 in a number of different events. He was also selected to represent Pakistan in Istanbul, Turkey for Laser Radial and Swimming events in International Nautical Competition.
