Sheetal Khadun; (born 20 June 1989) is a Mauritian fashion designer, model and beauty pageant titleholder who won Miss Mauritius 2013.
Early life
Sheetal was born in Beau Bassin-Rose Hill, Mauritius, she has acquired a degree in Fashion Design and Textile and has held several positions within various charity organizations. Sheetal has won several beauty pageants and has also represented her country at an international level pageant. She has won many awards participating in beauty contests, art and painting competitions.[1]
Miss World Mauritius 2014
Sheetal Khadun, was awarded Miss World Mauritius 2014 at the J&J auditorium.[2] She competed as one of 77 finalists at the Miss World 2014 pageant, held at ExCeL London in the United Kingdom in December that year.[3] Her costumes by Davina Ponen Boodhun and Mohammad El were debuted at the Hennessy Park Hotel on 18 November, prior to her departure for London. The designers said that they sought to keep them simple, with minimalist colours with slavery and India as the inspiration.[4] Khadun did not place in the competition.[5]
Miss Universe Mauritius 2015
Khadun was selected by a national committee to represent Mauritius at the Miss Universe pageant in 2015.[6] Sheetal Khadun debuted her national costume for Miss Universe on stage at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino on December 16.[7] She later said that she found the competition more comfortable than other competitors due to her experience at the previous year's Miss World pageant.[6]
Her performance at Miss Universe was subsequently criticised, which she attributed to the nature of a montage video uploaded to the internet. In her defence, she suggested that her detractors should watch the full length official video instead. At the competition, Khadun finished in the top 15 of the talent competition.[6]
