Asia
- Tamborasi River, in Southeast Sulawesi in Indonesia, approximately 20 meters long
Europe
- Ombla, river near Dubrovnik in Croatia, approximately 30 meters long
- Jezernica, the shortest river in Slovenia near Idrija, approximately 55 meters long
- Aril River, shortest river of Italy (near Lago di Garda), 175 meters
- Fiumelatte River, Italy, 250 meters
- Norrström, Sweden, connects Mälaren to the Baltic Sea at the Riksdag building
- Reprua River, Georgia, 27 meters
- Vrelo, Serbia, 365 meters
- Kovasselva River, on the island Hitra in Norway, approximately 20 meters long depending on the tide
- Kuokanjoki, shortest river of Finland is 3.5 meters long. It connects lakes Sumiainen and Lake Keitele to each other.

- Azuis River, Aurora do Tocantins, Tocantins, Brazil, at 147 meters. This river is the shortest river of Brazil.
- Correntoso River, Villa La Angostura, Neuquén, Argentina, at 200–300 meters (depending on the height of the neighbouring lakes Correntoso and Nahuel Huapi). This river is the shortest river of Argentina.
