Sivagiri is a panchayat town in Erode district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.

Sivagiri has an average elevation of 199 metres (653 ft). It is located 25 km (16 mi) to the south of Erode, 35 km (22 mi) to the north-west of Karur, 40 km (25 mi) to the west of Namakkal and 45 km (28 mi) to the east of Tirupur. Nearest areas are Kodumudi,Muthur,Modukurchi.Mostly Kongu Vellalar gounder peoples lived and also various caste such as chetiyar,senguntha mudaliyar.

Sivagiri means "Shiva's peak",also called as Kanagagiri. which might have been derived from the hill lock with a Shiva temple located in the town.The economy of the town is dependent on the agriculture and textile industries(Handloom). Sivagiri is well connected with Erode and Karur, the neighboring towns by local transports.

The Bharathiyar University College of Arts and Science is located here, run by the Government of Tamil Nadu. SSV Matriculation Higher secondary School and Government Schools for both boys (Sivagiri) and girls(Ammankovil).

There are many temples, including a temple dedicated to Sri Velayudha Swami and Sri Ponkaliamman temple.Another temple of Lord Shiva is located about 3 km from Sivagiri towards Arachalur in a place called Vilakkethy.The name of the god is Sri Vimalambika Samedha Vithgavinadheeswara.It is believed that a saint called Vilakkethi Sithar performed poojas in this temple by lighting deepam and hence the name Vilakkethi came for this Village.[1]

As of 2015 India census,[2] Sivagiri had a population of 35,285. Males constituted 51% of the population and females 49%. Sivagiri has an average literacy rate of 70%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 75%, and female literacy is 65%. In Sivagiri, 9% of the population is under 6 years of age.
