Sri Hanuraga (born December 24, 1985) is an Indonesian jazz pianist.[1] His self-titled debut album has released on 2013 by STANKOFFAMUSIC, an record label in Poland. Hanuraga also joining with several group in Indonesia and international. He had awarded for The Indonesian Young Talent Award by an festival Java Jazz Festival.
Early life and career beginnings
Sri Hanuraga was born on December 24, 1985 on Jakarta. Hanuraga originally learned to played from his father and in age of 11, Aga (his nickname) also studying the classical piano. Aga has often to playing the piano and performed with the group in the several festival, including 2002 Anugerah Musik Indonesia. Initially, Hanuraga had pursue his genre music progressive rock however he had studying for jazz with musician Indra Lesmana in the age of 17 and also had schooled in the Farabi.
Hanuraga has ever joining the competition in the JGTC (Jazz Goes to Campus) where held by University of Indonesia and came out as ultimate winner. In addition, Aga performed in several jazz festival, including Jakarta International Java Jazz Festival. Aga decided to studied his jazz in the Conservatorium van Amsterdam in Netherlands; after a year later to studied, Aga had earning the several international competition in the country windmill, such as winning 2006 Soloist Prize at the East of Eastern Jazz Festival in Nijmegen and also came out as second winner for Young Pianist Foundation in the Jazz Piano Competition.
In addition, Aga often performed in several cities of Europe continent, such as Paris and Cannes in France, Nice in Italy, Monaco, Belgium, Hungary, Germany and Romania.
2015–present: To the Universe
After that, Hanuraga signed a recording contract with Demajors and began released on his second jazz album, titled To the Universe in 2015.[2] Hanuraga admitted that his album was inspired from Javanese gamelan and concept the modern jazz with rhythm movement; and also jazz rhythm of its traditional elements. Hanuraga has releasing his other single, such as "Ever Changing Part 1", "Part 2" and "Part 3" which had performed on the 38th JGTC in Depok. In addition, To the Universe had awarded for Album of the Year and also earning the 2016 Best Jazz/Instrumental Artist in Anugerah Musik Indonesia.
