Sruti Respati (born September 26, 1980) is an Indonesian singer who often singing Javanese song. Respati has a garnered fame with as presenter in a various local television and musical performances.

Background

Sruti Respati was born on September 26, 1980, on Solo, East Java, to Sri Djoko Rahardjo and Sri Maryati. Her father is an dalang of wayang kulit and her mother is an dancer. Respati is an alumna of Sebelas Maret University of department of Language and Literature of Java in Surakarta. Respati is an Javanese descent.

Career

Respati began her debut career as singer and often performing in Indonesian Independence Day show on August 17 with Javan dancer and ballet. In addition, Respati also as presenter in various news TV local, such as Kabar Awan, Kabar Wengi and Jawa TrangSandykala in TATV in Surakarta.

As professional singer, Respati had helping several projects from some top Indonesian composer, such as I Wayan Sandra, Sujiwo Tedjo, Slamet Gundono and Danis Sugiyanto.

Respati represented Indonesia with singing kroncong song of top Indonesian composer and singer Gesang' "Bengawan Solo" and collaboration with 11 ASEAN country singer and musician in South Korea for twice years in a row (2009 and 2010). Respati had performing in music concert se-ASEAN and Korean ASEAN Korea Traditional Orchestra in three South Korea city Seoul, Gwangju and Jeju Islands for two years in consecutive.

In 2010, Respati selected became as Icon and promoting one of international event at the 2010 SIPA (Solo International Performing Art) in her birth country and still same of year, Respati also appointed for perform in Bandung World Jazz with band Arkodeon. Respati performing in her first concert Sruti Respati in Bentara Budaya Jakarta and also performing in opening of 2011 Southeast Asian Games in Palembang.[1]

Respati had nominated for twice times in a row (in 2012 and 2013) for Best Kroncong/Style/Opera Male/Female Solo Artist and winning first major award for Best Kroncong/Langgam/Stambul Song on Anugerah Musik Indonesia in 2013.

At Erwin Gutawa' concert A Masterpiece of Erwin Gutawa, Respati has singing for Waldjinah' "Walang Kakek" in early of 2011.[2] Respati played an Opera Jawa theater, entitled ‘’Selendang Merah’’ which directed by Garin Nugroho and held in two cities Jakarta and Solo.[3]
