St. Petersburg Museum of History

St. Petersburg Museum of History is located in St. Petersburg, Florida and exhibits cover the area's history. The museum was founded in 1920 as the St. Petersburg Memorial Historical Society. The city of St. Petersburg, Florida granted the organization use of an old aquarium building in 1922 where it is still located at 335 Second Avenue North East. The museum is the oldest museum in Pinellas County.[1] The Mission of the St. Petersburg Museum of History is to collect, preserve and communicate the history and heritage of Florida with emphasis on St. Petersburg and the Pinellas Peninsula.[1] The museum hosts a variety of traveling exhibits, evening events, guest speakers and more that promote adult lifelong learning. The St. Petersburg Museum of History has a significant Archive/Special Collections that includes over 5,000 indexed city photographs, 32,000 artifacts and other historic photos and documents.[1]
