Superlópez contra el robot de bolsillo (translated as Superlópez Against the Pocket Robot) is a 2003 Spanish CGI animation short film directed by Enrique Gato and based on JAN's comics Superlópez.

Gato, fan of this comic series, wont to make a homage at JAN work with a 3 minutes animation film, although he tried to make a long duration film, but wasn't possible.[1]

The plot is about a battle on the street between the main character against a giant robot.[2][3]

Production

Gato tried to design the character by himself for make a few seconds animatics, althoght he tried make an adaptation how designer before.[4][5] When began to make the script, tried to get a story (not very complicated) what will like the fans, so edit the movie in six steps: prologue, Superlópez appear, enemy appear, fighting each other, ending and epilogue.

Reception

JAN give Gato his permission for make the project. Despite to admit that he won't make the film by selfishness, has a strong friendship with the cartoonist.[6] After to see the short, JAN make a positive review.
