Syed Mohammad Ali (5 December 1928  1993) was a Bangladeshi journalist. He was the founder editor of the newspaper The Daily Star.[1]

Early life

Ali was born to Syed Mostafa Ali, an official of the Assam Civil Service. Ali was a nephew of litterateur Syed Mujtaba Ali and Syed Murtaza Ali.[1]

Career

Ali had a 44 year long journalist career.[1] He started his career as a reporter with the Pakistan Observer.

Ali was the chairman of the Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB).[1] He launched The Daily Star in 1991.[1]
