Syerleena Abdul Rashid

Syerleena Abdul Rashid is a Malaysian politician from the DAP (Democratic Action Party), who currently serves as a councillor for Majlis Bandaraya Pulau Pinang (one of the two local government councils in Penang, Malaysia). She is also a columnist for The Malaysian Insider and contributes regularly to various internet based news portals.

Her articles often focus on racial unity, feminism and religious tolerance. Before joining politics, she was an actively involved in Aliran and a local anti-trafficking organization. She is well known for being vocal in her statements and articles.

Syerleena is a graduate from Universiti Sains Malaysia, Penang.
