Tatarstan are one of the twenty-four participating countries and regions competing in the first Turkvision Song Contest scheduled to take place between the 17 and 21 December 2013.[1]

History

2013

Tatarstan made their début in the Turkvision Song Contest at the 2013 festival, in Eskişehir, Turkey.[1] It was announced on October 19, 2013 that Tatarstan would hold a televised selection for Turkvizyon with the final taking place on 21 November 2014.[2] On 8 November 2013, the 20 artists taking part in the contest were announced,[3] Alinä Şäripcanova won the selection with the song "Üpkälämim" (Үпкәләмим).[4]

2014

Kazan was announced as the host city for the 2014 contest on 2 November 2013.[5] On 5 August 2014, Maidan TV opened the submissions process for their national selection, the final was announced as being held on 20 September 2015.[6] On 3 September 2015, the 23 singers that were selected for the final were announced.[7]

The winner Aydar Suleymanov was a last minute addition to the competition, he was selected as the winner by a jury to represent Tatarstan in Kazan.[8] In the semi final Tatarstan performed 11th and won the semi final with a total of 223 points. In the final Tatarstan were drawn to perform 15th, they finished in 2nd place with a total of 201 points.
