Tech in Asia also known as TechInAsia (formerly known as Penn Oslon) is a media, events and jobs platform focusing on technology and startups in Asia. It started in mid-2009 and was officially founded and incorporated in March, 2011. The site, which is based across Asia and the US, publishes multiple articles daily about updates and news regarding technology and startups in Asia, primarily South-East Asia.

History

The site began in mid-2009 under the name "Penn Oslon", the website was created with the purpose of delivering news about technology and startups in Asia to its readers. Around two years later, in February 2010, the website received funding from East Ventures. A month after that, in March, the website was officially founded and incorporated.

In February 2012 the website started its first conference it had ever held in Singapore. Then in June, the website had started its second conference overall, and its first conference in Jakarta. In late-2012 the website had also expanded into five Asian countries, including Indonesia.

The next year, 2013, they received more funding, from East Ventures, Smile Ventures, and Fox VC. And in 2013, the website acquired two companies, SGE and Gamesaku. It then, in 2014, expanded to Japan and started its first conference it had ever held in Tokyo, in September. In January 2015, Tech in Asia, became the first Singapore-based YC startup.[1]
