That's Cunning! Shijo Saidai no Sakusen? (Japanese: That’sカンニング!史上最大の作戦?) is a 1996 comedy film directed by Hiroshi Sugawara.[1] It stars Tatsuya Yamaguchi and Namie Amuro.

Plot

Every student cheats using various methods. Kenji Kimura (Tatsuya Yamaguchi) on the other hand aims to go and do research under the great Professor Namazuda and doesn't cheat. After some time, Kimura's high school friend, Yumi Morishita (Namie Amuro), also starts cheating. During the exam, Professor Migita, through binoculars, spots Kamei cheating. When the teacher comes to the hall, Kimura worries that Migita has seen Morishita cheating, and his concern is somewhat alleviated when Professor Migita calls out Kamei instead, who is expelled. Later, Kimura attempts to help Kamei re-enter the college, but Professor Migita blocks him.

The next day, Professor Namazuda comes to the dorm and informs them about the decision from the meeting. Morishita goes to Migita's office pretending that she wants to do research under him. He agrees and asks her to shred some papers. While doing this, she discovers Professor Namazuda's atomic theory papers, which Migita stole to plagiarize for his own, thus realizing his plot to get rid of Namazuda. Morishita eavesdrops on a conversation between a construction manager and Migita about a plan to demolish the dormitories for a condominium/hotel, but she is seen by Migita's assistant. Later, she accidentally sees Migita seducing his assistant. Morishita rushes to the dormitory and tells Kimura and others about Migita's plan. They report it to Professor Namazuda.

In class, Migita warns the students that he will never tolerate cheating on the final. After class, Kimura and others rush to Migita about the dorm issue. Migita explains that he is simply trying to help the college. He also calls the students dumb, provoking the students. Kimura then offers a challenge that if they get good grades, Kamei will be allowed to return. He agrees under the condition that they get all A's on every subject. Namazuda later tells them of a cheating method using chemicals.

The exams are then given and the friends use their methods to succeed. During the last examinations, Kamei uses lasers to project the answers on the classroom wall and all students begin cheating. The situation confuses Migita who tries to search for what led to it. After the exams, they leave except for the friends. While Migita asks them to strip for him to search for hidden notes, the university president discovers and they all get dressed. One of Migita's researchers reveals that he secretly recorded a conversation of Migita and the construction company manager about the dormitory demolition and about Migita's plagiarism of Namazuda's atomic formulation theory. The university president declares that the dormitories remain and he will summon the court to investigate Migita's acts.

Kimura then confesses his love for Morishita using a cheating method developed by Professor Namazuda, and they embrace. Migita's researchers realize that all students have cheated when they check the papers. As they attempt to report about it to Migita, who is angrily playing a game, Migita, accidentally knocks over a chemical bottle, which explodes and injures him.
