The Central Modern School (TCMS) is a co-ed english medium school under the CISCE board in Barasat, West Bengal, India. The school educates children from kindergarten through to year 12. It was established in 1980 and is one of the oldest English-medium schools in North-24 Parganas.

Timings

The school has two shifts. Morning shift (Nursery to class 4) starts from 7.15 AM to 10.35AM. Day shift (Class 5 to 12) starts from 11.15 AM to 4 PM. There are compulsory language subjects (Hindi and Bengali) till class 8 and after that students have to chose any one. There are three main vacations- Summer Vacataion (May-June), Puja Vacation( October-November) and Winter Vacation (December).

Affiliation & Curriculum

The school is affiliated to the CISCE Board and hosts secondary & higher secondary examinations like the ICSE and ISC.The additional subjects in the Secondary level (Classes 9 & 10) include Economics, Computer Applications and Commerce, and the Higher Secondary streams include Humanities, Commerce and Science.

Extra-Curricular Activities

The school has 4 houses among which regular competitions are held like elocution, dance, quiz etc. One house is declared champion at session's end. The four houses are :

Red House (Himgiri), Blue House (Nilgiri), Yellow House (Udaigiri), Orange House (Khandagiri).

An annual sports day and a carnival is held every year to showcase the achievements of the school.

The school has branches in Birati, Gorabazar (Dum Dum) and Bangur Avenue in Kolkata.
