The Frights

The Frights are an American garage punk, punk rock, and surf punk band from San Diego, California consisting of Mikey Carnevale (guitar/lead vocals) former lead singer of the band 1208, Richard Dotson (bass/vocals), and Marc Finn (drums). After first appearing for a thirty minute prank set at a show in 2012, Carnevale, Dotson, and Former drummer Adam Lomnitzer signed on to small San Diego label Postmark Records, with whom they produced their first EP, Dead Beach, released in Spring of 2013, where they first exhibited their trademark "dirty doo wop" sound, a mix of vintage rock, punk rock, and surf music combined with doo wop vocals. Their second Postmark EP, Fur Sure, arrived only two months later, which consisted of a much more fuzzy, and sometimes Dead Kennedys-esque sound. By the end of the year, The Frights dropped their self-titled debut album, which combined higher production quality with more refined guitar noise, and capitalized on the stop-and-go, punky, and vintage nature exhibited by songs in Dead Beach. In 2014, the band released a split EP with Death Lens, entitled DeathFrights, and a single ("Tounges" b/w "Puppy knuckles"), which was their final Postmark release. After successfully signing on to indie label Dangerbird Records, The Frights' second album, You Are Going to Hate This (produced by Zac Carper of FIDLAR, was released in February of 2016. You Are Going to Hate This also introduced a new lineup, featuring Marc Finn on drums. The band are currently signed to Dangerbird Records.
