The Rumjacks are a punk rock/celtic folk band from Sydney, Australia.

History

Formed in 2008 by Frankie McLaughlin (vocals) and Johnny McKelvey (bass), The Rumjacks combine a variety of musical influences, including elements of punk rock and traditional celtic folk. The band wasted little time releasing their debut EP Hung, Drawn & Portered later in the year.[1]

After some early lineup changes, the band settled on their current lineup of McLaughlin, McKelvey, drummer Anthony Matters, guitarist Gabriel Whitbourne and banjo/mandolin/bouzouki player Adam Kenny.[2]

The music video for their 2011 single "An Irish Pub Song" went viral, amassing over 21 million views on YouTube.[3]

In addition to performing shows in many Australian cities,[4] The Rumjacks have embarked upon numerous tours of Europe.[5]

In 2012, the band took a two-year break as McLaughlin was jailed for assaulting his partner.[6]
