The Wayne Independent is an American daily newspaper published Tuesdays through Saturdays in Honesdale, Pennsylvania. It is owned by GateHouse Media.

It is the only daily serving Wayne County, Pennsylvania. It was founded as a semiweekly publication in 1878.[1]

In addition to its daily product, The Wayne Independent produces three weekly newspapers serving nearby communities:

The weeklies share a publisher and executive editor with The Independent, but are based in separate offices. In 2012, The Villager moved out of its Moscow office and now shares the Carbondale office with the Carbondale News.
