Trematocranus placodon is a species of cichlid endemic to Lake Malawi, Lake Malombe and the upper reaches of the Shire River. This shallow-water species prefers to occupy areas with patches of Vallisneria. This species can reach a length of 25 centimetres (9.8 in) TL. This species can also be found in the aquarium trade.[2]
