Tungal is a village in the southern state of Karnataka, India.[1][2] It is located in the Jamkhandi taluk of Bagalkot district in Karnataka.

Demographics

As of 2001 India census, Tungal had a population of 6689 with 3442 males and 3247 females.[1] Savalagi is the nearest place to Tungal. Major crops are Jowar, Maize, Sugarcane, Wheat, Cotton and grapes are also grown here. Educational system is good and for further education students used to go to nearby cities which have good colleges but Arts and Science colleges have come up. Major Temples are Venkatraman, Mallikarjuna, old Krishna temple at the center place and Dharga. Krishna temple has history of more than 1000 years. Every year Krishna Janmashtami, Darga modinsabha urs, Okli and other festivals are celebrated well. Lots of bus facilities are available to and for Jamkhandi and Athani. Tungal comes under Savalagi police station.

Gram Panchat is not effective in this village to take care of the public problems.
