United States House of Representatives Republican Leader election, 2006
Republican members of the U.S. House of Representatives elected a new floor leader, the number two job in their leadership (after Speaker Dennis Hastert), on February 2, 2006 following the January 7, 2006 resignation of Tom DeLay. The winner, John Boehner, as a result became House Majority Leader as the Republicans hold the majority of seats in the House. DeLay had previously stood down from the post with Roy Blunt, the House Majority Whip, acting for him on an interim basis due to an indictment on money laundering charges.

Results
The vote was held on February 2, 2006. Shadegg finished last on the first ballot and withdrew. Boehner defeated Blunt on the second ballot by a margin of 122 to 109.
