Uttanur

Uthanur[1][2] or Uttanur is a village located in Mulbagal Tehsil of Kolar district in the southern Indian state of Karnataka. It is located about 85 km east of the state capital, Bangalore. In 2011, its population was 1604 inhabitants, with 817 males and 787 females.[1][2]

History

Uttanur is a historical place of Kolar district. Uttanur village has over 1000 years history. In the period of the Gangas, Uttanur was an important place for trading and traditions. The Gangas built a Sri Uttameshwara temple in Uttanur. Recently Uttameshvara Yuvakara Sangha has renovated the temple.

The great Saint Brugu Maharshi built a Sri Varadaraja Swamy temple in Uttanur. The Uttanur is known as a Uttama Kanchi. Every year on the day of Bharatha Hunnime the Rathothsava takes place.

In Uttanur Sri Beereshwara Swamy temple the jathra takes place once in every ten years.

In Uttanur Sri Ganapathi temple was build by Ganigara Sri JR Lakshminarayanashetty.

Uttanur is near by 6 km for NH-4, a newly-laid four-lane road from Bangalore to Nangali Mulbagal Kolar district Approximately 354 km of major roads connect other locations to this area. From Srinivasapura to Mulbagal State Highway passes through Uttanur.
