Vadym Pozharskyi (born January 26, 1979, Kyiv region, Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic, USSR) is a National project coordinator for the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO)[1] in Ukraine. He also serves as an advisor[2][3] to the board of directors[4] at the Burisma Holdings, Ukraine's leading independent oil & gas producer with operating in Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Italy.[5][6][7][8][9]

Early life and education

Vadym Pozharskyi was born in Kyiv region, Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic. He attended the Public school №19 in Kyiv and graduated in 1996. Pozharskyi earned his bachelor's degree in Law from Norwich Law School and his master's degree in the EU Law from Leiden University.

Career

April 2010: August 2011: Acting Director of the State enterprise “Ukrresources”, the State Committee of Ukraine for State Material Reserves.[10]

August 2011: January 2012: Assistant to the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine,[11] Head of the Department for International Cooperation and European integration, Deputy Head of the Department for State Environmental Policy and International Cooperation.

2012 – 2013: consulted the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine[12] on the issues of international cooperation. Pozharskyi consistently spoke in favor of signing the Association Agreement[13] between Ukraine and the EU. He participated in the high level negotiations on the Association Agreement. Pozharskyi facilitated the work of the Mission[14] of the European Parliament in Ukraine headed by former President of the European Parliament Pat Cox and former President of Poland Aleksander Kwasniewski.

January 2012: April 2014: Deputy Head of the State Environmental Investment Agency of Ukraine.[15]

July 2014: August 2014: Consultant of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).

2014: National project coordinator for the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).

From April 2014: Advisor to the Board of Directors at Burisma Holdings[16] represented by Alan Apter, Devon Archer,[17][18] Hunter Biden and former President of Poland (1995-2005) Aleksander Kwasniewski.[19]

2011 – 2012: led the Negotiating Group from the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC)[20] on Restoration of the status of Ukraine in the Kyoto Protocol.[21]

2010 – 2014 - a Focal Point of the Global Environment Facility (GEF)[22][23] in Ukraine. He also worked closely with the international institutions, inter alia, UN agencies.

Pozharskyi is also the Head of the Organizational Committee of the International Forum on Energy Security for the Future founded in 2016 by Albert II of Monaco and Nikolay Zlochevskyi, the owner of Burisma Group. The Forum is an initiative on energy security focused on popularization of alternative energy sources in Europe. It was first held on June 2, 2016, in Monte Carlo. The Forum strives to promote non-polluting renewable energy and calls for closer cooperation and coordination among countries, organizations as well as civil society to target common security challenges and energy concerns.
