Via Gemina

Via Gemina was the Roman road linking Aquileia and Emona (the modern Ljubljana).[1] It took its name, the "twin road", from the circumstance that it departed from Aquileia along with the Via Postumia. The road, which contributed to the rapid Romanization of Istria, went from Aquileia through Tergeste[2] (modern Trieste) and the Karst district, passing near or through the modern settlements of Materija, Obrov and Klana, whence, near Flumen (modern Rijeka), it descended towards Trsat to continue along the Dalmatian coast.
