Vikram Gandhi

Vikram Gandhi (born May 20, 1962) is an Indian investment banker and an impact investor. He is the founder & CEO of VSG Capital Advisors and also founded Asha Impact.[1] Vikram is also a faculty member at the Harvard Business School.[2]

Early life

Vikram was born on 20 May 1962 in Allahabad, India and did his schooling at Cathedral School, Mumbai. He went on to pursue his B.Com from the University of Mumbai and later pursued his MBA from the Harvard Business School [3]

Career

Prior to forming VSG Capital Advisors, Vikram was Vice Chairman of Investment Banking and Global Head of Financial Institutions Business for Credit Suisse, in New York City and Hong Kong. He was a member of Credit Suisse's Global Investment Banking Management Committee and the Fixed Income Operating Committee.[4]

Prior to his tenure at Credit Suisse, Vikram worked at Morgan Stanley, where he was Co-Head of Global FIG in New York; his prior work at Morgan Stanley included heading the Firm's institutional strategy area, its Global E-commerce Committee, and as Country Head and President of Morgan Stanley India.[5]

Board commitments

He is a Board Member and Chairman of the Asian Regional Committee of Grameen Foundation,[6] a Board Member of Janalakshmi Financial Services,[7] and a member of the Investment Committee at Gawa Capital.[8] Vikram is also a Founding Member of Harvard University’s South Asia Initiative [9] and also a Founder of Ashoka University,[10] the first liberal arts college established in India. He is a member of The Global Leaders Circle [11] and associated with the Social Entrepreneurship initiative at Harvard Business School. Vikram is also a member of the Bretton Woods Committee, Washington DC, which plays an important role in promoting economic growth, reducing poverty and maintaining global financial stability.[12]

Community work

Vikram set up Asha Impact, which is an impact investing platform that invests in three key areas — financial inclusion, affordable housing and alternative energy. Currently based in New Delhi, India, Asha Impact provides equity and grant capital to social enterprises and engages with government, business and civil society on key policy issues.[13][14]

Personal life

Vikram was married to humanitarian Meera Gandhi who is the founder & CEO of The Giving Back Foundation and they have three children.[15]
