Vishen Lakhiani (born January 14, 1976) is an entrepreneur,[1][2] author, and speaker.[3] He is the founder and CEO of Mindvalley and the author of The Code of the Extraordinary Mind.[4]

Career

Vishen Lakhiani has founded three companies: Mindvalley, Dealmates (a group buying) and Blinklist (a social bookmarking service). Mindvalley is an education technology company that publishes products focused on personal spiritual development and lifelong learning, such as the meditation app Omvana.[5] Dealmates is a Malaysian-based e-commerce site that Lakhiani founded with Patrick Grove as part of a joint-venture between Catcha Group and Mindvalley.[6][7] Lakhiani has also founded A-Fest, a not-for-profit invite-only conference that offers training in conscious entrepreneurship and mindfulness.

In May 2016 Vishen Lakhiani published the self-help book The Code of the Extraordinary Mind through Rodale, Inc.. In the book Lakhiani argues that a person's outlook on life is shaped by conditioning and habit, and offers 10 laws to help readers break free of this mindset. After its release the book achieved position number 10 on the New York Times Bestseller List for Advice, How-To & Miscellaneous.[8][9]

Vishen Lakhiani is part of the Innovation Board for the X PRIZE Foundation [10] due to his charitable donations to XPRIZE since 2013.

Recognition

In 2015 at XPRIZE's Visioneering Event he was part of the team that won the audience vote for best new XPRIZE Idea, involving housing for refugees, [11] which has now evolved into the Corigen backed Innovative Housing Prize. [12]

Criticism

In early 2016 both Vishen Lakhiani [13] and some Mindvalley local registered companies (Poland, India etc) [14] appeared in the Panama Papers for owning offshore shell entities in the Bahamas and British Virgin Islands. The main Mindvalley entity though remains a US registered Nevada LLC. Offshore business entities are typically not illegal, but are often used for including fraud, kleptocracy, tax evasion, and evading international sanctions.
