Walter Kendall Stanton (29 September 1891, Dauntsey, Wiltshire 30 June 1978, Sedgehill, Shaftesbury, Dorset) was an English organist and composer of sacred music.

At Salisbury Cathedral he was a chorister. Subsequently, he was educated at Lancing College and then from 1909 to 1913 at Merton College, Oxford, where he was an organ scholar.[1] He served various schools as Director of Music: St Edward's School, Oxford (1915–1924); Wellington College (1924–1937); Reading University (1927–1937); the Midland Region of the BBC (1937–1945); and Professor of Music at Bristol University (1947–1958).[1]

Stanton composed mostly choral music, including almost 50 hymn tunes and numerous choral anthems, several of which have become standard church choir fare.
