WWE Main Event or simply Main Event, is a professional wrestling television program produced by WWE that originally aired on Ion Television in the United States, then the WWE Network, and is now broadcast on Hulu Plus. It debuted on October 3, 2012 and ended its domestic broadcasting on April 2, 2014. After the final domestic TV broadcast the show moved to an internet broadcast format. The show features mid-to-low card WWE superstars of the Raw and SmackDown brands. The show is currently on a hiatus from the WWE Network due to a conflict with British broadcaster Sky Sports's first-run syndication rights.[1] However, the show is still being taped before Raw tapings to fulfill international commitments and is also now airing on Hulu Plus while on hiatus from the WWE Network. Episodes are uploaded to the WWE Network 18 days after airing. The show is currently is a sub-show of the SmackDown brand.

Production/presentation

The show is produced on Monday evenings, right before the Raw airing, and is broadcast on Thursday nights, similar to the system SmackDown's used before it went live on July 19. It originally aired live, with a slight broadcast delay.[2] It uses the same HD set as all other WWE programming with all ring ropes being red to represent the Raw brand, except for the month of October, when the middle rope is pink, to promote WWE and Susan G. Komen for the Cure's breast cancer awareness campaign.

WWE commentator Tom Phillips and Byron Saxton are the broadcast team, and JoJo is the ring announcer. From October 3, 2012 to January 22, 2014, "Diamond Eyes (Boom-Lay Boom-Lay Boom)" by Shinedown served as the official theme for Main Event. Since January 29, 2014, "On My Own" by CFO$ now serves as the theme song. Following the 2016 WWE Draft it was announced that Main Event would feature superstars exclusive to the SmackDown brand, making it the official "B" Show of the brand similar to WWE Velocity.

On November 28, 2016, matches for WWE Main Event began taping prior to Monday Night Raw. This was done due to the cancellation of WWE Superstars and to make room for the new cruiserweight special, WWE 205 Live, streaming on the WWE Network immediately following SmackDown every Tuesday night.
