WYYS 106.1 FM is a radio station broadcasting a classic hits format. Licensed to Streator, Illinois, the station covers LaSalle, Ottawa, and vicinity and is owned by The Radio Group.

History

WYYS began as a simulcast of co owned WSTQ FM 97.7 in 1993 carrying a country music format. At the time the two stations were owned by Streator Broadcasting along with WIZZ AM 1250 (Now WSPL). In 1999 the three stations were bought by Mendota Broadcasting. On January 3, 2000 as WSTQ prepared for a format change WYYS began simulcasting the all talk format of sister station WSPL AM 1250. This simulcast lasted about a year. In 2001 WYYS flipped to an easy listening format known on air as Easy Hits 106. On December 26, 2004 the station flipped to its current classic hits/oldies format.
