Waccamaw High School (WHS) is one of four schools that are encompassed in the Waccamaw school family on the Waccamaw Neck of Georgetown County, South Carolina. Opening in 1990, it was a high school that consisted of grades 7–11. Its first senior class was not until the class of 1992. In 1996 the first group of students who helped open the school as 7th grade middle schoolers graduated. On October 25, 1995 the school's first state championship was won by the Marching Band program. Surrounded by a number of first-class golf courses, WHS has always been known for its strong golf programs. Its first sports state title was won by the boys golf team. The boys soccer team was also one of its first successful sports. Waccamaw High School won the Palmetto's Finest Award against Mcdonald Elementary School in 2008. Waccamaw proved to be a very successful school athletically in 2010 when they won four state championships including girls tennis, boys tennis, girls soccer, and girls Softball.
