Wafande Pierre Jolivel Zahor (born January 21, 1983), better known by his mononym Wafande is a Danish reggae, soul singer and songwriter. He is signed to Universal Music.

Life

Wafande born to an African father, a musician, and a Danish-French mother has roots in Denmark, France, Tanzania, Congo, Malawi and Oman. He grew up in Freetown Christiania, a neighborhood in Copenhagen, Denmark. At 8 years old, family moved to France. He aspired for a basketball career particularly after playing for the French national youth basketball program and receiving a scholarship offer from an American college.[1]

Upon his return to Denmark to pursue a musical career, he cooperated with music produced Fresh-I and with performer Pharfar. His debut single "Gi' mig et smil" that features Kaka was released in May 2011 reaching #3 in the Danish charts and went gold. Soon after he released his debut album Du ved det on 22 August 2011.
