"We Write the Story" is a song composed by ex-ABBA members, Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson and the Swedish DJ and record producer, Avicii. The performer is still to be announced, although iTunes provisionally listed the artists as "Avicii & B&B & Choir" when the track was made available. It was the anthem for the Eurovision Song Contest 2013, released on the day of the Grand Final. The song has only charted in the Dutch single chart peaking at number 73.[1]

Release and background

It was announced by EBU on 15 April that Benny, Bjorn and Avicii will compose the Eurovision 2013 anthem.[2][3] The idea of a "Eurovision Anthem" for 2013 was there from the beginning of the planning of this year's contest. From the start, Benny, Björn and Avicii were on the very top of the list of musicians that SVT wished to collaborate with.[2] Martin Österdahl, the executive producer, said:

"We are extremely delighted to announce that Benny, Bjorn and Avicii have accepted to compose a unique piece of music for the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest" [4]

Andersson and Ulvaeus, who made up half of ABBA - alongside Agnetha Fältskog and Frida Lyngstad - said they agreed with host broadcaster SVT's "vision for the contest". The collaboration is being hailed as a "union of two of Sweden's biggest musical exports".[4] The song was performed for the first time in the Final on the 18 May.[5]

The song is written in the key of E Major.
