William "Billy"/"Billie" G. Simpson was a professional rugby league footballer of the 1900s and 1910s playing at club level for Wakefield Trinity (Heritage #166), as a Wing, i.e. number 2 or 5.[1]

William Simpson played Left-Wing, i.e. number 5, and scored a try in Wakefield Trinity's 17-0 victory over Hull in the 1909 Challenge Cup final during the 1908–09 season at Headingley Stadium, Leeds on Tuesday 20 April 1909.[2]

William Simpson played Left-Wing, i.e. number 5, and scored a try in Wakefield Trinity's 8-2 victory over Huddersfield in the 1909 Yorkshire Cup final during the 1909–10 season at Headingley Stadium, Leeds on Saturday 3 December 1910.[2]
