Wolrad II of Waldeck (also spelled Vollrad, nicknamed the Scholar; 27 March 1509 in Eilhausen, now part of Bad Arolsen 15 April 1575 in Eilhausen) was the son of Philip III of Waldeck-Eisenberg (9 December 1486 20 June 1539) and Adalheid of Hoya (1472 11 April 1539).

He was the reigning Count of Waldeck-Eisenberg from 1539 until his death, and the progenitor of the Middle House of Waldeck-Eisenberg. From 1547 until his death in 1578, he resided in the Water Castle at Eilhausen.

Marriage and issue

On 6 June 1546 he married Anastasia Günthera of Schwarzburg-Blankenburg (31 March 1528 1 April 1570), the daughter of Henry XXXII of Schwarzburg-Blankenburg (1498-1538) and Catherine of Henneberg (1508-1567). The couple had the following children:

  3. Elizabeth (28 April 1550 1550)
  4. Anna Erika (17 September 1551; 15 October 1611), from 1589 until her death abbess of Gandersheim Abbey

  6. Josias (18 March 1554 6 August 1588), married Marie of Barby (1563-1619)
  7. Adelheid Walpurga (11 September 1555 1570)
  8. Amalie (28 February 1558 1562)
  9. John (b. 13 July 1559)
  10. Jutta (12 November 1560 in Eisenberg 23 May 1621 in Greiz), married in 1583 to Count Henry XVII of Reuss-Oberreiz, (25 July 1561 in Glauchau 8 February 1607 in Greiz)
