Yang Teng-kuei

Yang Teng-kuei (1938 – December 31, 2012) was a Taiwanese film producer and media mogul credited with expanding the audience for Taiwanese cinema.[1] His credits included A City of Sadness in 1989, Goodbye South, Goodbye in 1996, and Flowers of Shanghai in 1998.[1]

Yang opened a concert hall in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, in the 1980s.[1] He was imprisoned on Green Island, Taiwan, beginning from 1985 to 1988 for ties to organized crime.[1] Yang launched Polyface Entertainment Media Group in March 2011 with an estimated investment of $172 million (NT$5 billion).[1]

Yang Teng-kuei died of a stroke in Taipei, Taiwan, on December 31, 2012, at the age of 74.[1]
